Dr. Ratan Bhattacharjee who is at present Chairperson and Associate Professor in the Post Graduate Dept. of English of Dum Dum Motijheel College and Guest Faculty in Rabindra Bharati University had earlier taught in the PG departments of English in Vidyasagar and Education Dept of Rabindra Bharati University and and also in Bangabasi Evening College and Gangadharpur College at different periods of time for the last 29 years. At presents he is also the distinguished member of the Advisory Board of International Theodore Dreiser Society, USA. He is associated as a Citizen Journalist with Merinews.com. He specialized in Francis Scott Fitzgerald and Theodore Dreiser, two major stalwarts of American Literature.. He has been on the Executive Committee of Indian Association of American Studies .His publications in Creative Writing include: Francis Scott Fitzgerald: The Quest for Meaning and Form.He is associated with Poemhunter.com and allpoetry.com His recent papers on American literature have been accepted by the University of Craiova, Rumania
